5 Eye-Opening Facts About Blogging

If you’re a loyal reader of this blog, you’ve learned a thing or two about blogging. You may even start feeling like an expert.

Well, get ready to be jolted because I’ve got new information to share.

The gift that keeps on giving about blogs is that there’s an endless stream of content. I could blog about blogging forever...and I plan to. To quote the great Jeff Bridges from The Big Lebowski, “New shit has come to light”, and thus I present to you five eye-opening facts about blogging.

1) There Are 600 Million Active Blogs

This even shocked me. Let that sink in a moment because that number is just staggering. That’s almost double the size of the U.S. population. If someone ever says, “Give me one good reason why I should have a blog,” you can say that you have 600 million.

2) 10% Of The U.S. Population Are Bloggers

To say that blogging talent is growing is an understatement. According to Statista, around 32 million people in the U.S. are bloggers, and that number has grown by more than 10 million in the last six years. Hey now!

3) 77% Percent Of Internet Users Read Blogs

There are over 4.6 billion internet users worldwide, and 77% of that is...it’s a lot, okay! To the naysayers who cry that no one reads anymore, I raise you 3,542,000,000 people who do.

There, I did the math.

4) Businesses That Blog Average 67% More Monthly Leads Than Those That Don’t

Does your business need a blog? If you want leads then the answer is HELL YES. To put it another way, if you’re not blogging then you are potentially ceding prospects and even current customers to your competitors who see the value in it.

5) Blogging Is The #2 Form Of Marketing Media

Being in the top two is rarified content air. HubSpot routinely emphasizes the importance of blogging in business content strategy. Blogging may be a close second to video, but I know this because I read about it in HubSpot’s weekly blog. Take that, video!

Keep in mind that this is only a small sample size of impressive facts about the efficacy of blogging, but this should be enough to resurrect your blog or start a new one. What are you waiting for?
