ANOTHER DAY IN PANDEMIC PARADISE - BONUS EPISODE - JIMMY THAI RAMEN TIME: "Bad News Early is Good News"

That’s Jimmy Seriruk, owner of the restaurant Jimmy Thai Ramen Time in Deerfield, Illinois, which has become a culinary staple on the North Shore. I’ll get to the food in a minute, but I’ve got to fuss over Jimmy first.

Every interaction I’ve had with Jimmy--whether it’s been placing a take out order over the phone, picking up the order, or dining in--has been a nurturing experience. When I picked up my first ever carry out order, Jimmy blew me away with his knowledge of my Miami Heat. Another time when I arrived early for an order, Jimmy insisted I have a glass of wine on the house while I waited. He even welcomed me to squat in the dining room following a late lunch to get some work done.

Now the food. A few years ago, I had the best ramen of my life in San Francisco’s JapanTown. Jimmy’s ramen is better, and it always puts me in a better mood. I’m not alone because Jimmy Thai Ramen Time won the Chicago Edition of Restaurant Wars best restaurant in a March Madness style bracket competition.

When the pandemic struck, Jimmy Thai Ramen Time was one of the first restaurants to pivot to curbside carry out. Though we are in PHASE IV of Restore Illinois, Jimmy has chosen to take the Safety First approach and will continue to only do 100% Covid free Curbside Pick-up & Delivery services for now. WATCH THE VIDEO FOR THE FULL INTERVIEW.
